Feathered brows – the hottest trend this season

The perfectly contoured brows you know so well from the Instagram are… no more! Currently, the hottest trend is feathered brows. Check out what is this trend all about and find out how to have the best brows of this season.

Feathered brows – where did it come from?

Beautiful, even, deep color brows made almost perfectly were a key element of make-up every celebrity, beauty blogger, movie star or musician wore. This geometrical perfection requires much effort, is timeconsuming and let’s be honest, not everyone is good with drawing the perfect lines… For this reason, most women skipped this type of make-up altogether. Mario Dedivanovic, the famous make-up artist of stars and idol of celebrities (such as Kim Kardashian) set an entirely new trend – the feathered brows.

Feathered brows – which is?

It’s experimenting with brows that ends up the worst most of the time. Very often interfering with their shape can entirely change the face features and make brows to either add a charming look or disrupt the face harmony. Brows can make us into inaccessible mean-girl or a friendly optimist. Mario Dedivanovic has concluded that recently trendy, Instagram brows can be often too much, appear fake, too strong and even defiantly or vulgarly. However, due to brows being extremely important make-up element and should be enhanced, he offered the “golden mean”, i.e. the new gentler and more natural form of brows – the feathered brows. In this trend, brows are combed and by gently outlining them the shape is provided to emphasize the eye’s beauty.

How to perform feathered brows?

Before you proceed with your new feathered brows, pluck any extra hairs and perform make-up removal. Only now you can go on with the stylization.

For the feathered brows you will need:

  • eyeshadow,
  • eyeliner brush or eyebrow pencil,
  • colorless wax or brow gel,
  • eyebrow comb,
  • concealer or nude pencil.

Feathered brows – the instruction

  1. Comb brows upwards so that the hairs pointed towards the temple.
  2. With the brush and eyeshadow (you can also use eyebrow pencil) outline the upper part of the brow. Start at the one-third of the entire brow length and head towards the outer eye corner.
  3. Outline also the lower edge of the brow. This one may be more expressive so make the line with one gentle yet fast stroke. Head from the beginning of the brow upwards then proceed to the part that goes towards the temple.
  4. Now it’s time to make brows optically denser. Do it by filling the outline of the brow you have just created. Make short strokes with a pencil or brush dipped in pomade to imitate the hairs. It is important to match the product color with your hair color. Comb brows upwards and correct all the imperfections.
  5. Under the lower brow line apply some concealer or light eyeshadow to open the eye and optically raise the brow ridge.
  6. It is time to “discipline” brows: take colorless eyebrow serum or wax and comb the hair upwards. Obviously, naturally thick and dark brows will easier achieve the feathered effect. Luckily, when it comes to thin and sparse brows the effect is worth it as well.

When performing feathered brows, never outline the entire brow as you did for normal contouring. Fill in only the inside part and always comb upwards.
