What are the key elements of eyebrow make-up?
- Getting brows shaped by a pro in line with the brow art.
- Choosing the right make-up products.
- Bold brow definition, not exaggerated.
It’s just three things making up the perfect look but there are so many mistakes you’re likely to make.
EYEBROW MAKE-UP – THE MOST COMMON MISTAKES
Filling in brows that aren’t shaped
Let’s talk the basics. For a nice effect, the brows first need shaping. Brow make-up will never be a success if there are some unnecessary hairs outside the arches, or worse, when two arches unite to create a monobrow. Prior to make-up, get your eyebrows shaped!
Too dark make-up
The choice of the suitable products is crucial too. Which cosmetics are best? The type isn’t as important as the color. Using too dark pomade, powder or pencil is the most popular brow make-up mistake. Remember to match the color of your brow cosmetic to the natural shade of your hair or to your hair dye. Platinum blonde doesn’t make a perfect match with pitch-black eyebrows.
Wrong geometry (shape)
Girls often mark out the start, arch and end of the brows wrongly. Some of them don’t even mark anything and draw the lines at random. It’s a brow make-up mistake which may end up in disturbing the symmetry of the face. Remember that the two brow arches shouldn’t be too close or too far, and their end should be in a specific point. Check the rules for marking out the best brow shape.
Too sharp arch
Geometry is also about getting the right arch which can be either soft or sharp. Drawing too high and sharp arch is a big mistake breaking proportions of the face. The rule is simple, though. The sharper the facial features, the softer and rounder the brows.
Too thick brow arches
Drawing too thick arches isn’t good either. This can be classified as too bold brow make-up which disturbs the face proportions and focuses all attention on the brows. Do your best to keep the natural thickness, keep them neither too thin nor too wide.
Too sharp line
Another mistake which makes us look like cartoon characters and spoils the natural effect is giving too much color and getting too bold contour. As far as the end of brows can get more definition, the start and arch should be subtly enhanced (you can even blur it a bit for a natural look).
Not brushing the brows
Finally, the least popular mistake yet it might turn your make-up from fleek to chaotic. It’s about not combing the brows before and after filling in. There are readymade spoolies but feel free to use a clean wand of your used mascara.
